Called in to collect materials at a branch of Jewson down south but all staff and customers were told to evacuate as a fire alarm was going off. One member of staff went into the warehouse but as I was driving away I saw a wisp of smoke coming out of the roof.
I drove back to the warehouse and found the only remaining member of staff trying to put out a 3m blaze of solid fire from a whole pallet of bitumen felt which had gone up. He had used 2 extinguishers with no affect and was off to get a 3rd.
I saw an extinguisher near the door and ran over to help. Mine was a powder type and it put out the flames immediately - whilst he was using water.
The building had thick smoke 1 metre deep from the roof. We both got out and the manager called the fire brigade from the street to check the place over.
Pretty sure Ryan got told off for not having his hard hat and high viz on at the time!
