Southport solid block, heavy storm

OK - forget what I said last week. We’re about one street away from the sea here and on the night of the storms I was on my hands and knees rendering up the inside of the walls at 7pm while bits of tree and fence tore over my head.

I thought it was fun and exciting at the time. It was only in the cold light of the next morning seeing all the fences and debris that I realised how lucky I was to be unscathed.

Still, it dried the rendering out something great!

It feels great building the walls in solid block - they go up so quickly you think you’re nearly finished....

Then you have to fit all the drip edges and corner trim, apply the pva and scratch coat, and then realise you have to return in a few days to apply the smooth top coat, then paint it with 2 liberal coats of quality exterior masonry paint.....

Yeh I’m Woking, in sunshine! (for the first few hours)

..Woking in sunshine - glorious on my first and last few hours here - but apart from that it rained constantly and persistently for my week here.

I’m not complaining really - I‘m not suffering compared to those poor folk flooded in their homes.

I am very fortunate that I could sludge on under my trusty gazeebo and get the job done.

Above you can see the before and after photos of where the greenhouse is going to go. It’s a tight spot - we had to kindly ask the neighbour if I could remove a fence panel to get the materials up there. Still I had to barrow 2 tonne of sand &aggregate a flight of steps - stops me getting fat though eh

Woking is a great place with lots of warm generous people (well, the ones I met all were!) and I’m looking forward to getting back here to see this finished greenhouse take up it’s permanent home.

Look at the sunshine in this photo - you’d never believe the rain I had looking at that.
