You know when you mention helping out one day....this one turned out to be a big one - mixed-age groups of 11 children for half an hour slots from 9 to 3pm.
I ended up running a session looking e types of bugs and birds we want to help and have the kids build bird boxes and a bug house from a pallet, bamboo sticks and rolled-up paper.
The children got to use hammer and nails, a glue gun and drill and did a lovely job painting it. We built the Bug Hotel and placed it in a sheltered south-facing aspect among the plants. It’s useful but not too big or ugly looking I think. We also looked at hedgehog homes and built a couple of bird boxes
My gazeebo came in handy as a temporary classroom.
Great fun and very worthwhile - but I was shell-shocked afterwards. I don't know how teachers do it.
Thank you Claire for her kind and generous words this week.

Just a quick email to thank you so much for our wonderful greenhouse.
It really is a work of art....more beautiful that I had envisaged!
The attention to detail is superb. Half the village have been up to view it...I wouldn't be surprised if you were down this way again, building another for our neighbours!
Hope you had a good journey home.
Kind regards and many thanks,
