My customers want a greenhouse to fit exactly over a brick base left over from a previous structure. It measures 3.1m wide by 3.8m long. This isn't an option that I know anyone else offers but it's something I'm more than happy to provide - after all, I do all the work myself building the base, designing the greenhouse, building and installing the finished greenhouse - so it doesn't matter what the dimensions are to me. This job is about a 4-hour drive from home but luckily I was working just up the road on another greenhouse when the acceptance form for this job came through and I could quickly check the base dimensions before starting to build the structure in my workshop in Wales. Actually the base was 1ft larger than I had been informed so it was well worth the visit. I'll be back here in 2 weeks with the greenhouse and glass to complete the installation.
Please check back then - and if you have any questions or comments I'd love to hear from you.

I finally got around to filming a short tour video of my own greenhouse. I'm looking forward to getting in there this spring and organising the capillary matting / guttering watering system, the strawberry tower in vertical soil pipe and seeing how the extractor copes with humidity. We've recorded over 60 degrees in there already and it's only Feb - but the auto-opening roof windows opened pretty quickly and calmed the heat down.
It was great to get back to Petersfield after only a week away with all the completed structure, glass and shelving to complete the greenhouse. Apart from the cold the weather was perfect. Thanks to my customers Jon and Norma for making me so welcome. Jon made the equivalent of a Christmas dinner each evening of my visit which kept me firing on all cylinders and got the greenhouse completed in just 3 days. I put together a video showing the full process of construction, from digging out for foundations to fitting the finials. |
