I hadn't completely stopped working over Christmas so I was ready to install this greenhouse on 8th Jan, as soon as my glass had arrived.
These are the longest lengths of glass I have ever used - 2.8m long (or just over 9ft in old money!). They are supported in a 15mm rebate on either side in 4x2 rafters and I added horizontal ties and a central pillar to ensure they can cope with potential snow loads up here.
I had stripped and re-roofed the shed on my last visit and built the brick walls - and taken lots of measurements of the original surrounding walls before building the greenhouse structure back in Wales.
As expected, the old walls lean out a little so I had one sheet of roof glass cut at a slight angle to compensate for this. This was the hardest piece of glass to fit as I had to carry it up the ladder and drop it in (the rest of the panels I slide in from the ground).
There used to be a greenhouse in this exact location once before. It was an honour and pleasure to be asked to reinstate it.
